To mark 300 days since the start of protests in Tbilisi, march will be held from 300 Aragveli Monument towards Parliament on September 23

On September 23, we will gather at the monument to 300 Aragveli in Ortachala and at 19:00 we will move towards the Parliament - for the Georgian population, for whom democratic, Western values and public rights are important, we will not tolerate the usurping regime, - said civil activist Guram Chukhrukhidze.

According to him, even after 300 days since the start of the protests, the demands remain unchanged - "the restoration of freedom, democracy, our constitutional order and the scheduling of new parliamentary elections."

“September 23 marks the 300th day of non-stop protests. Only the protests of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King brought freedom to the people, which lasted longer than 300 days. It is important to show the illegitimate, traitorous regime that the Georgian people are steadfast in their demands, which were voiced 300 days ago, which are for our freedom - this is the restoration of our freedom, democracy, our constitutional order and, most importantly, the scheduling of new parliamentary elections.

We will symbolically gather on September 23, in Ortachala, at the monument to 300 Aragveli and at 19:00 we will move towards the Parliament. On Rustaveli, there will be a film screening about the regime’s prisoners. There will also be a certain kind of exhibition, which will be organized by cultural representatives, and we will once again show the regime that the population of Georgia, for whom democratic, Western values and public rights are important, we will not tolerate a usurping regime," said Guram Chukhrukhidze.

A joint statement by activists and civil society groups was also made near the parliament on this issue. They said, "The regime has been terrorizing and fearing a free society for 300 days."

“For 300 days, the ruling party has been violating the Constitution and laws of Georgia, threatening Georgia’s sovereignty, and completely isolating the country from the civilized world. For 300 days, it has been fighting the country’s Western partners, civil society, businesses, and parties, dismantling systems, and seizing public institutions.

For 300 days, it has been strengthening authoritarianism and turning the country into a Russian province, tying the country’s economy to the Russian and Chinese markets, and impoverishing the population. Therefore, for these and many other reasons, we have been standing in the streets for 300 days and will continue to stand until the country returns to the path of democratic development, until all political prisoners are released, and new fair parliamentary elections are held,” reads the statement issued jointly by activists and civic groups.
