Polish President: When Russia launched its attack on Georgia, it was not clear to everyone that this was just the beginning of Kremlin’s new imperialism - unfortunately, the winds of history are starting to blow again

Polish President Karol Nawrocki said the drone incursion into his country’s airspace was an example of Russian imperialism.

“When Russia launched its attack on Georgia, it was not clear to everyone that this was just the beginning of Kremlin’s new imperialism. Unfortunately, the winds of history, which we in Poland know and understand so well, are starting to blow again,” Nawrocki said at the UN General Assembly session.

He said the drone incursion into Polish airspace was no coincidence.

“Dozens of drones deliberately violated the borders of my country. This was not an accident. This happened by order issued in the capital of a country that is a permanent member of the Security Council,” Nawrocki said.

He said the incident forced Poland to open fire on enemy targets for the first time since World War II.

“And rest assured, ladies and gentlemen, as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the President of Poland, that Poland will always respond adequately and is ready to defend its territory,” said Nawrocki.

He said holding Russia accountable should be a shared responsibility.
