The Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued a statement regarding the incident at the Holiday Inn.
In particular, as stated in the information released by the agency, a person was locked in one of the rooms of the hotel and was threatening the hotel staff with death.
"The Public Security Management Center 112 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received a report that a gunshot was allegedly heard from a hotel room in Tbilisi.
Upon receiving the report, the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs responded immediately and the relevant units, including the Patrol Police, Criminal Police and Special Tasks Department, promptly arrived at the scene.
Upon arrival at the scene, it was determined that a person was locked in one of the rooms of the hotel and was threatening the hotel staff with death. The person was detained by law enforcement officers at the scene.
The investigation into the incident is underway under Articles 236 and 151 of the Criminal Code, which include illegal acquisition, storage and carrying of firearms and threats," the agency said.
