Judge orders pre-trial detention for Giorgi Bachiashvili’s parents

Judge Eka Barbakadze ordered pre-trial detention for the parents of Giorgi Bachiashvili, the former director of the Co-Investment Fund. Giorgi Bachiashvili’s mother, Marina Ramazashvili, and father, Aleksandre Bachiashvili, were not present at the trial. They are not in Georgia.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia is accusing Giorgi Bachiashvili’s parents of assisting in the legalization of illegal income.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, Giorgi Bachiashvili legalized illegal income from assets obtained through criminal means in the amount of 2,944,957 USD and 1,097,187 GEL in 2017-2023 with the help of his parents.

Both of them were charged with the crime provided for in Article 25, Section 194, Subparagraph "c", Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment for a term of 9 to 12 years as the form and measure of punishment.
