The former head of the Border Police Department of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Ruslan Shamakhia, has been detained, as confirmed by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Darakhvelidze.

According to him, the investigation is ongoing under Article 236, which pertains to the illegal acquisition and possession of firearms.

Darakhvelidze stated that investigative actions are currently underway, and details will become available later.
