According to Levan Kavelashvili, the lawyer for Paata Burchuladze, leader of the "Rustaveli Avenue" movement, Burchuladze feels resolute and plans to continue the fight.
In a conversation with "InterpressNews," Kavelashvili stated that he visited his client at the Dighomi temporary detention facility this morning.
"We were with him at dawn, along with my colleague. We can say that Mr. Paata feels resolute. He is proud to be where he is for the love of this country. No charges have been formally presented yet, so we don’t officially know what Paata Burchuladze is accused of. Once the charges are formally presented, we will be able to discuss more details. He was initially taken from the clinic to the Central Criminal Police and then transferred to the detention facility. His health condition is normal; of course, he is exhausted, considering he sustained injuries during the rally. However, he is now relatively stable, feeling better, resolute, and intends to continue the fight," Kavelashvili stated.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained leaders of the "Rustaveli Avenue" movement, Paata Burchuladze and Murtaz Zodelava, as well as "National Movement" member Irakli Nadiradze, one of the leaders of "Strategy Aghmashenebeli," Paata Manjgaladze, and Colonel Lasha Beridze, all of whom were members of the organizational committee for the October 4 rally.
According to the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, they are charged with "inciting the violent overthrow of Georgia’s constitutional order or the toppling of the state government, as well as organizing, leading, and participating in group violence."
The offenses carry a prison sentence of up to nine years.
