The Ministry of Internal Affairs is issuing a statement regarding yesterday's protest rally.

As explained by the ministry, the assembly held on October 4 quickly took on an illegal character, after which "proportionate measures in accordance with the highest legal standards" were taken to ensure compliance with the law.

Furthermore, according to the MIA statement, based on the events that unfolded yesterday, they consider that any gatherings held today and in the coming days will be a continuation of yesterday's attempt, and they will take appropriate measures "to prevent threats to public order and security."

"As is known to the public, yesterday an assembly was held whose declared goal was the overthrow of the government. The assembly quickly took on an illegal character, after which the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia took proportionate measures in accordance with the highest legal standards to ensure compliance with the law.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia will take appropriate measures today and in the coming days to identify violators of the law and enforce the law against them.

Furthermore, based on the events that unfolded yesterday, we have grounds to consider that any assembly held today and in the coming days is a continuation of yesterday's attempt, and we will take appropriate measures to prevent threats to public order and security.

We call on everyone to take this circumstance into account and refrain from any actions that could serve as grounds for legal measures against them," the statement reads.
