Archpriest Andria Jghamaidze: Archimandrite Dorothe Kurashvili acts according to his own views, not with the blessing of the Patriarch

Archimandrite Dorothe Kurashvili acts according to his own views and not with the blessing of the Patriarch, stated Archpriest Andria Jghamaidze, head of the Patriarchate’s Public Relations Service, on social media.

“The question is often asked: Does Archimandrite Dorothe Kurashvili, by participating in the protest movement, express the position of the Georgian Church? The answer is: No, Archimandrite Dorothe Kurashvili acts according to his own views and not with the Patriarch’s blessing.

The official position of the Patriarchate is reflected in its October 4 statement, and Archimandrite Dorothe’s actions contradict its content,” writes Archpriest Andria Jghamaidze.
