“We did not summon the ambassadors for reprimands. We summoned the ambassadors to provide objective information. It is important for us that the processes taking place in Georgia are assessed objectively and that objective and fair statements are made,” stated Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili to journalists after a meeting with representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She noted that October 4 was politically a “sunny day” in Georgia.
“Today’s gathering of the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs served the purpose of providing comprehensive information about the elections held on October 4, as well as the events that unfolded in Tbilisi on that day. They were provided with the information that our society saw live on air. Additionally, we discussed the investigations related to the events of October 4.
The discussion also touched on the responses we have heard from the international community and actors, which, in many cases, inaccurately reflect and address the events that took place, creating false perceptions and impressions about Georgia. These issues were discussed. Of course, it is important for us that the processes taking place in Georgia are assessed objectively and that objective and fair statements are made.
October 4 was a very bright and sunny day in Georgia. It was truly a sunny and good day, not a dark day. Politically, it was also a sunny day in Georgia throughout that day. When we talk about objective and fair assessments of the processes taking place in Georgia and regarding Georgia, we are referring precisely to the fact that the statements we heard from specific individuals, which were echoed by several countries, inaccurately reflect the processes taking place in the country. We did not summon the ambassadors for reprimands; we summoned them to provide objective information,” Bochorishvili stated.
For reference, the meeting with representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia has concluded at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Ministry, the main topics of discussion at the meeting were the local self-government elections and the events that unfolded on October 4.
The representatives of the diplomatic corps were met by the First Deputy Minister, Giorgi Zurabashvili.
