“Why are you so eager for [the suspension of visa-free travel]? I can assure you that it won’t be suspended due to the policies of ‘Georgian Dream,’” stated Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili to journalists, responding to a question about the potential suspension of visa-free travel with the European Union.
As Bochorishvili noted, Georgia obtained visa-free travel thanks to the policies of “Georgian Dream.”
“Why are you so eager for [the suspension of visa-free travel]? I can assure you that it won’t be suspended due to the policies of ‘Georgian Dream.’ It was thanks to the policies of ‘Georgian Dream’ that we obtained visa-free travel. I assure you, because of ‘Georgian Dream’s’ policies, you are not at risk of losing it,” the Foreign Minister stated.
When asked, “What are you doing to save visa-free travel?” the Minister noted that they are doing “everything.”
“There is nothing to save regarding visa-free travel if there is a fair approach toward Georgia. Georgia has always diligently fulfilled its obligations related to relations with the European Union, including the Association Agreement. If anyone has doubts about who is fulfilling or not fulfilling these obligations, that lies with the other side.
What is the risk, and who created this risk? We have said this many times and I will repeat it once again: this is the instrumentalization of relations with the European Union. There is no other reason, no other basis, for this topic to even be discussed in relation to Georgia,” Maka Bochorishvili stated.
