October 4 showed what a peaceful overthrow attempt means - we survived very grave processes! We have grounds to think that one of the tasks was to kill a person, when a police officer was attacked and suffered a severe injury - this statement was made in Parliament by Gia Volski, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
According to Volski, the brutality of the confrontation was planned much more seriously than what actually occurred.
“For a long time, there has been debate about what a peaceful overthrow means - gathering people and forming a technical government, or physical confrontation and fulfilling threats of bloodshed. October 4 showed what a peaceful overthrow attempt means. Of course, the calls [for action] are punishable, but when these calls are accompanied by concrete actions, it goes beyond legal issues and enters a serious political space where appropriate conclusions must be drawn.
We survived very grave processes that could have taken place. We have grounds to think that one of the tasks was to kill a person, when they attacked a police officer and inflicted a severe injury. I think this was part of the scenario, though it could not be carried out on the scale they planned. What failed, which component of the scenario was unprepared - we will receive information from the relevant structures. It is clear that the brutality of the confrontation was planned much more seriously than what happened in reality.
The crime is evident and quite grave. It became clear that there are indeed groups working to escalate the situation, whether armed with fuel or destroying private property. They needed to create a picture where the flagpole is shaking and people are running around it with European flags - this was the scenario and image that was supposed to be transmitted afterward to broadcasting and political sources outside Georgia for discussion,” Gia Volski stated.
