Dimitri Vardiashvili, the lawyer representing Tornike Mchedlishvili, Abo Neveriani, and Sergo Megrelishvili, who are charged in connection with the events of October 4 in Tbilisi involving the attempted seizure and blocking of a strategically important object and participation in group violence, stated that his clients do not plead guilty to the charges.
According to the lawyer, the accused are ready to cooperate with the investigation.
"They categorically deny the charges because they do not agree with the substance of the accusations. They are charged under Article 222, Part 2, and Article 225, Part 2 of the Criminal Code, which involve the attempted blocking of a strategically important object and participation in organized group violence. The accused have denied all allegations in every instance. Accordingly, they have a desire to cooperate with the investigation and provide objective information," the lawyer stated.
The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has charged 13 individuals in connection with the events that took place on October 4 near the Presidential Residence on Atoneli Street, related to the attempted seizure and blocking of a strategic and particularly important object, as well as participation in group violence.
Specifically, charges have been brought against: Beka Machavariani, Aleksandre Gogoladze, Eva Shashiashvili, Giorgi Rurua, Vakhtang Pitskhelauri, Davit Sturua, Manuchar Mikeladze, Aleksandre Khabeishvili, Kakhaber Mzhavanadze, Tornike Mchedlishvili, Abo Neveriani, Sergo Megrelishvili, and Davit Zhghenti.
All 13 individuals have been charged under Article 19-222, Part 2(a) of the Criminal Code of Georgia (attempt to seize strategic and/or particularly important objects, committed by a group, punishable by imprisonment from two to four years) and Article 225, Part 2 (participation in group violence, punishable by imprisonment from six to nine years).
