Guram Macharashvili on “Lelo” and Gakharia’s party: We no longer take these forces seriously; a lawsuit will be filed – “The United National Movement” and its satellites must withdraw from Georgian politics, and the satellites will be specified in the lawsuit

“We no longer take these forces [‘Lelo – Strong Georgia’ and ‘For Georgia’] seriously. In just a few days, a lawsuit will be filed with the Constitutional Court. Accordingly, the ‘United National Movement’ and its branches will inevitably be abolished as political parties — this will not require much deliberation,” said Guram Macharashvili, an MP from the People’s Power movement and a member of the parliamentary temporary investigative commission, speaking to journalists.

According to Macharashvili, it was confirmed during the investigative commission that “Lelo – Strong Georgia” and “For Georgia” are affiliated with the United National Movement.

“I’m surprised that you’re trying to find logic in the political steps of ‘Lelo–Gakharia’. If you’re asking this jokingly, I’ll tell you — they never really believed they would have serious quotas in the local councils. They were saying they’d take part both in the revolution and in the elections. Meaning, if something changed after 4 p.m., they’d side with the revolutionary committee. No one had any illusions about that. But the reason for their failure is that these people don’t trust each other. Manjgaladze even said they had nothing in common except taking a group photo.

We no longer take these forces [‘Lelo – Strong Georgia’ and ‘Gakharia for Georgia’] seriously. In a few days, a lawsuit will be filed with the Constitutional Court. The temporary investigative commission had plenty of evidence, and October 4 will serve as an additional piece of evidence showing that these people are fighting against the state. Therefore, the United National Movement, together with its branches, will inevitably be abolished as political parties. That won’t require long discussion. Why should we even care about the opinions of such so-called political parties today?” — Macharashvili stated.

When asked whether “Lelo – Strong Georgia” and “Gakharia For Georgia” would be included in the Constitutional Court lawsuit, Macharashvili responded that the United National Movement and its satellites must be removed from Georgian politics, and the specific satellites will be identified in the lawsuit.

“We’ve said many times that, unfortunately, they are affiliated with the United National Movement, which was confirmed by the commission — including Lelo and Gakharia’s party. I can’t speak on behalf of the Constitutional Court. The United National Movement and its satellites must be removed from Georgian politics. The satellites will be specified in the lawsuit. After that, I invite you to read the lawsuit, study it, and come back,” Macharashvili concluded.
