Gela Udzilauri, accused in Levan Jangveladze’s murder, refused to testify at today’s hearing

Gela Udzilauri, accused of the contract killing of businessman Levan Jangveladze and the attempted murder of his driver, Gia Chaduneli, refused to testify at today’s hearing.

After a few minutes of consultation with his lawyers, Udzilauri, as a prosecution witness, declined to provide testimony.

“He does not wish to testify for the prosecution,” stated his lawyer.

Whether Gela Udzilauri will testify as a defense witness at the next court hearing or choose to make a final statement remains unclear.

Additionally, it was revealed during the hearing that Mamuka Baghdavadze, summoned as a witness, also refused to testify in Gela Udzilauri’s case. However, he will provide testimony in a separate proceeding in which he is accused.

Another individual, the brother of Sandro Tsivtsivadze, who is accused of illegal acquisition and possession of a firearm, also refused to testify in court.

For reference, Gela Udzilauri was arrested in connection with the contract killing of Levan Jangveladze.

The incident occurred on March 14, 2025, at 23:30 on Ilia Chavchavadze Avenue in Tbilisi.
