According to the lawyer of Eva Shashviashvili, detained during the October 4 rally, the defense requests a psychiatric evaluation

Amiran Burduli, the lawyer of Eva Shashviashvili, detained during the October 4 rally, stated that the defense is requesting a psychiatric evaluation due to the detainee's issues. The lawyer visited his client at the Zages temporary detention facility. As he told journalists, Eva Shashviashvili is charged with participating in group violence but is exercising her right to remain silent.

“We will likely request a psychiatric evaluation, as she has issues, and a family member does as well; she has a severely ill child. She is choosing to remain silent. The indictment states ‘participation in group violence.’ She says she threw one stone and nothing more. The case materials are very extensive, and I haven’t reviewed them yet—approximately 1,000 pages. She says she doesn’t know the other individuals involved. Given her difficult family situation, we will likely request bail as a preventive measure. As you know, the minimum bail is 1,000 GEL, but I will request a higher amount,” stated the lawyer, Amiran Burduli.

For reference, the investigation regarding the individuals involved in the events at the Atoneli Palace is being conducted under Articles 317, 222, 225, and 187 of the Criminal Code.

Within the scope of this investigation, 23 individuals were detained, including 18 civic activists, with 5 accused of organizing the rally, among other charges. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 3 individuals are in hiding.
