There is ample evidence, such as footage that we all saw publicly on television broadcasts, as well as expert conclusions confirming the commission of criminal acts by the individuals, stated Prosecutor Tamar Bezhuashvili following the court hearing for four additional individuals detained during the October 4 rally.
According to the prosecutor, witnesses include various individuals who provide incriminating testimony, including those who were injured by the actions of the accused.
“The court fully accepted the evidence presented by the prosecution and imposed pretrial detention as a preventive measure for all four detainees. Regarding the evidence in the criminal case, I can tell you that there is ample evidence, such as footage that we all saw publicly on television broadcasts, showing how the accused damaged and attempted to block the President’s Palace, which is an object of strategic importance. Additionally, the footage clearly shows how the accused committed violence against various individuals, including representatives of law enforcement agencies. Beyond this, there are expert conclusions that confirm the commission of criminal acts by these individuals.
The witnesses include various individuals who provide incriminating testimony, including those who sustained injuries as a result of the actions carried out by the accused. In this case, the injured parties are employees who were protecting the President’s Palace.
Tornike Mchedlishvili is one of those who, using an unidentified large object - a stick, a flagpole, or something else - mercilessly inflicted physical harm on those around him,” the prosecutor stated.
For reference, the investigation regarding individuals involved in the events at the Atoneli Palace is being conducted under Articles 317, 222, 225, and 187 of the Criminal Code.
Within the scope of this investigation, 23 individuals were detained, including 18 civic activists, with 5 accused of organizing the rally, among other charges. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 3 individuals are in hiding.
