Teona Akubardia: It appears that “Georgian Dream” concluded from Taliashvili’s account that reconciliation is impossible, and they have now opened a new front against the U.S. State Department - they are embittered

After October 4, “Georgian Dream” expected legitimation of the local elections from the West, while also demanding condemnation of the events of the evening of October 4. They received neither, and they are embittered, stated opposition politician Teona Akubardia on the “PalitraNews” program “Resume.”

According to Teona Akubardia, “Georgian Dream” is trying to fully formalize its victory and needs Western legitimation to achieve this.

“They are embittered to the extent that they are once again using Goebbels against Germany. Goebbels was Hitler’s chief propagandist and friend. Russia is fighting Nazism in Ukraine, and accordingly, Kobakhidze is spinning the same narrative—this is ordinary Russian propaganda in this regard.

Also, yesterday we saw the summoning of our ambassador to the [U.S. State Department]. From [Tamar] Taliashvili’s account, they seem to have concluded that reconciliation is impossible, and now they have opened a new front against the U.S. State Department.

The entire process is heading toward ‘Georgian Dream’ trying to (in their understanding) fully formalize their victory. This victory lacks two things. On one hand, recognition from the West that they are the winners, and no one else, with a call to ‘come, let’s talk.’ On the other hand, filling the existing opposition quota in Parliament, which exists on paper, to complete the phase of winning, after which only one step remains until the phase of eliminating politics,” stated Teona Akubardia.

According to Teona Akubardia, “Georgian Dream” cannot fully “slam the door” on Europe, so they are trying to provoke Europe into rejecting Georgia.

“They cannot slam the door completely, so they deceive the people by saying they are heading toward Europe with dignity. If they say ‘no’ first, the people will turn against them because the people want Europe and a good European life. They are doing everything so that Europe says ‘no,’ not them,” stated Teona Akubardia.
