This week, Monaco has become the center of discussions on global humanitarian challenges. The renowned city-state of Western Europe is hosting the leaders of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement from across Europe and Central Asia for three days, providing an opportunity to deliberate on the growing global humanitarian needs, align perspectives, and define a common strategy for action.
The meeting is hosted by H.S.H. Prince Albert II, President of the Monaco Red Cross, and H.S.H. Princess Charlene, Vice President of the Monaco Red Cross. The event is attended by Ms. Kate Forbes, President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
The Leaders’ Meeting was convened at the initiative of Ms. Natia Loladze, Vice President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and President of the Georgia Red Cross Society. Under her leadership, the meeting has brought together leaders of 45 National Societies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent from Europe and Central Asia, including the Georgia Red Cross Society. During the three-day meeting, delegates are working actively to agree on common plans and approaches for future cooperation.
“We cannot afford to wait - our role is vital. This meeting marks an important step toward stronger, more effective humanitarian action. Through a shared vision and collective effort, we can contribute to building a better and safer future for all. I am confident that the Leaders’ Meeting in Monaco will further strengthen regional cooperation, unity, and our commitment to people-centred humanitarian action.” - said Ms. Natia Loladze, expressing gratitude to the Monaco Red Cross Society for its warm hospitality.
During the meeting, leaders are discussing the global challenges that have a significant impact on humanitarian work, including climate change, health, migration, armed conflicts, and growing humanitarian needs.
