Levan Jobava and Shalva Chubinidze sent to 14 days of administrative detention

Tbilisi City Court found Levan Jobava and Shalva Chubinidze administrative violators.

By the judge’s decision, they were sentenced to 14 days of administrative detention.

They were accused by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of artificially blocking Rustaveli Avenue on October 18.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 14 people were administratively detained during the October 18 protest, and a case is ongoing against 13 people. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the participants of the protest violated the requirements of Article 11 of the Law of Georgia “On Assemblies”, according to which it is prohibited to artificially block the roadway, unless the number of participants in the gathering requires it. The department explains that "despite numerous calls made by the police, as well as the official statement issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, not to disrupt traffic, the participants of the demonstration did not obey the police and continued their illegal actions. Also, some of the demonstrators had their faces covered, which is also a violation of the law."
