Journalist Keta Tsitskishvili sent to 5 days of administrative detention

Tbilisi City Court has declared Keta Tsitskishvili, a journalist of the TV company Formula, as an administrative violator.

Judge Koba Chagunava has ordered 5 days of administrative detention for her.

The journalist is accused by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of blocking a road.

A representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs requested the use of the most severe punishment - administrative detention. He believed that a verbal warning was not to be used. In addition, according to him, the court can legally arrest Keta Tsitskishvili, as Tsitskishvili’s child turned 12 on October 3, and under the current legislation, in such cases, the administrative detention of the parent is permissible.

The journalist responded to this argument of the MIA representative as follows:

“I wasn’t going to say anything, but this lady mentioned my child so many times that I want to tell her that I was standing there for my child. I don’t know if you have a child or not, but I am standing there for your child too,” the journalist addressed the MIA representative.
