Police have detained 12 people over the past 24 hours for violating the rules for holding assemblies and demonstrations, in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the protesters, who are gathering on Rustaveli Avenue, near the parliament, “continue to commit illegal actions, despite their small number, artificially blocking the road and obstructing the movement of vehicles.”
According to the ministry, some of the demonstrators are also wearing masks, which constitutes an administrative offense.
“Over the past 24 hours, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained 12 individuals: Ts.Zh., K.M., G.T., M.Ch., A.V., G.V., G.Ts., I.Ts., B.Ch., L.U., L.M., and A.G. for violating the rules for holding assemblies and demonstrations, in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses.
The demonstrators, who are gathering on Rustaveli Avenue, in the area adjacent to the Parliament, continue to carry out illegal actions, despite their small number, artificially blocking the road and obstructing the movement of transport. Also, some of the demonstrators have their faces masked, which constitutes an administrative offense.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs once again calls on the organizers and participants of the rally to comply with the requirements of the law, otherwise, law enforcement officers will act in accordance with the law - they will identify the violators and take appropriate measures against them as prescribed by law," reads the statement.
