Supreme Court Judge Archil Kochlamazashvili elected as a member of the High Council of Justice

Supreme Court Judge Archil Kochlamazashvili was elected as a member of the High Council of Justice. He will serve in this position for a term of 5 years.

The new member of the High Council of Justice was elected at the 36th Conference of Judges.

At today’s conference, only one candidate was nominated for the single vacant judge member position on the Council, and this candidate was supported by 295 delegates.

The need to elect a new member to the High Council of Justice arose after one of its members, Levan Nemsadze, was appointed to the Supreme Court. At this time, the Council is fully staffed and consists of 15 members. According to amendments made to the law, instead of 9 judge members, the Council must now include 12 judge members, with the remaining three being non-judge members.
