Police arrest another person in connection with intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in young teacher’s death

Police have arrested another person, G.R., born in 2007, in connection with the intentional infliction of serious bodily harm in the Temka settlement, which resulted in the death of young teacher Giga Avaliani.­

As InterpressNews was told by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, he is charged with failure to report a serious crime.

According to the investigation, the detainee was at the scene of the incident, but did not report the crime to law enforcement officers and fled together with the person already arrested in the case, A.G., born in 2008.

“Employees of the Gldani-Nadzaladevi Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry have detained another person, G.R., born in 2007, in connection with the fact of intentional infliction of serious injury to health that occurred in the Temka settlement of Tbilisi, which resulted in the death of a young man. He is charged with failure to report a serious crime.

The evidence obtained by the investigation establishes that G.R. was at the scene of the incident, however, he did not report the crime to law enforcement officers and fled the scene together with the person already detained in the same case - A.G., born in 2008,” the agency said.

On October 25, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained a person born in 2008. According to the investigation, the accused physically assaulted Giga Avaliani in the vicinity of a residential building in the Temka settlement of Tbilisi and caused serious injuries. The injured person was hospitalized in critical condition, where he received medical care, but his health deteriorated further over the following days and he died on October 24.
