Court hearing for Levan Khabеishvili ongoing at Tbilisi City Court - the prosecution demands continuation of pre-trial detention

A court hearing is underway at Tbilisi City Court regarding Levan Khabеishvili, Chairman of the "National Movement" Political Council, charged with promising a bribe to an official to commit an illegal act and publicly calling for the overthrow of state power.

The investigative period for this case has been extended until December 9, so today's hearing will review the preventive measure imposed on Khabеishvili—pre-trial detention.

The state prosecution is requesting the continuation of the strictest preventive measure—pre-trial detention—for the detained opposition politician.

The accused, Khabеishvili, is attending the court hearing.

For reference, Khabеishvili was charged under Part 2 of Article 339 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to promising a bribe, money transfer, or other material benefit to an official to commit an illegal act in the exercise of official powers or fulfillment of duties, for the benefit of the bribe giver.

Additionally, Levan Khabеishvili was charged under Article 317 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to publicly calling for the overthrow of state power.
