Archimandrite Dorote Kurashvili plans to go to the Patriarchate today, but if the media does not attend the diocesan commission session, he will not participate in it.
As he told InterpressNews, he will not change his demands regarding the necessity of media presence at the session.
"I will not attend this session if the media is not present, because they are demanding answers from me about televised appearances. I am going to the Patriarchate at 14:00, but I don’t know what they themselves will do," Archimandrite Dorote Kurashvili noted.
For reference, the Patriarchate summoned Archimandrite Dorote Kurashvili to the Morality Commission due to statements he made publicly. According to the Patriarchate, recent statements and public appearances by Dorote in the media reveal disciplinary, moral, and defamatory violations. Archimandrite Dorote did not attend the session, for which he received a "strict warning." He later clarified that he would attend the session only if media representatives were also present. However, yesterday the Patriarchate of Georgia issued a statement saying that Archimandrite Dorote Kurashvili’s demand for the diocesan commission session on October 29 to be held in the presence of the media will not be satisfied. The Patriarchate explained that this demand by Dorote Kurashvili is unprecedented and unacceptable.
