The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia will petition the court to replace the pre-trial detention imposed on accused Nino Datashvili with bail, taking into account her health condition - this is stated in a release issued by the Prosecutor's Office.

According to the agency, the prosecution has learned that medical examinations conducted on the accused confirm she requires surgical intervention and subsequent treatment.

"The Prosecutor's Office will petition the court today to change the accused's preventive measure," the statement reads.

For reference, Nino Datashvili was detained on June 20 in connection with an incident that occurred on June 9 at Tbilisi City Court. She was charged under Part 3 of Article 353 Secunda of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to assault on a public servant during the performance of official duties. This offense carries a penalty of a fine or imprisonment from 4 to 7 years.
