Archimandrite Dorote Kurashvili: They took away my ambo; from now on, my ambo will be Rustaveli Avenue; every day - until the end

"They took away my ambo; from now on, my ambo will be Rustaveli Avenue. Every day - until the end," writes Archimandrite Dorote Kurashvili on social media

"Every Thursday at 13:00, I would hold services at the Lower Bethlehem Chapel, but they took away my ambo, and I can't meet the people in the temple. From now on, my ambo will be Rustaveli Avenue. I await you all, starting at 20:00 today.

Every day - until the end," the Archimandrite writes on social media.

As a reminder, a session of the Mtskheta-Tbilisi Diocesan Commission was held at the Patriarchate of Georgia. The diocesan commission concluded that Archimandrite Dorote Kurashvili continues to exhibit disciplinary and moral violations, specifically: defamatory statements, as well as other actions unbecoming of a priest and monk.

The diocesan commission appealed to His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, to relieve Archimandrite Dorote Kurashvili of his duties as head of the Church of the Nativity of Our Lord in Lower Bethlehem as punishment and assign him to priestly service at the Holy Trinity Patriarchal Lavra, of which he is a member. Later, a decree was issued by His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, relieving Archimandrite Dorote Kurashvili of his position as head of the Church of the Nativity of Our Savior in Bethlehem and appointing him as a priest at the Holy Trinity Patriarchal Cathedral.
