According to Giorgi Sharashidze, Jemal Ananidze, who left the Batumi City Council, will enter Parliament

The statement was made by Giorgi Sharashidze, a member of the For Georgia party, in a conversation with journalists.

He also noted that the For Georgia parliamentary faction will soon be expanded to 12 members.

“No, no one has left the party — I confirm this. In the coming days, our faction will expand to 12 members, and everyone will hear about it,” said Sharashidze.

For reference, members of Giorgi Gakharia’s party For Georgia have formed a parliamentary faction consisting of 10 MPs.

According to Davit Matikashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Procedural Issues, the faction currently has 10 members because one of its members, Jemal Ananidze, was also elected to the Batumi City Council. Matikashvili explained that Ananidze must either renounce his City Council mandate or his parliamentary one, as holding both positions simultaneously is incompatible.

Today it became known that For Georgia member Jemal Ananidze has requested suspension of his Batumi City Council mandate.

It should also be noted that the For Georgia party has 12 parliamentary mandates; however, one MP, Rusudan Tevzadze, refused to assume her mandate and left the party. It is still unknown which member from the For Georgia electoral list will replace her in Parliament. According to party representatives, discussions on this matter are ongoing, as some members from the electoral list are no longer part of the party.
