Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained 29 protesters over the past five days for violating the rules governing assemblies and demonstrations, in accordance with the Administrative Offenses Code, due to the illegal blocking of Rustaveli Avenue.
The information was released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“The protesters ignored multiple calls from patrol police officers urging them not to engage in unlawful actions and not to block the roadway. Despite their small number, the demonstrators again blocked Rustaveli Avenue, deliberately disrupting traffic.
We once again call on the participants of the rally to refrain from illegal actions. Otherwise, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia will act within the mandate granted by law, identify all offenders, and take appropriate measures as defined by the law,” the statement eads.
