71-year-old Aza Chilachava, detained during the protest on Rustaveli Avenue, has started a hunger strike. Her lawyer, Marika Arevadze, is disseminating this information.

Arevadze visited Chilachava in the Zahesi temporary detention isolator.

"It was a shocking sight - how they bring grandma in, and behind the bars, the word 'Gagra' is visible on her chest! Aza is spirited and fearless, as is her habit. She has started a hunger strike; despite many pleas, we couldn't change her mind (a hunger strike without water)," the lawyer states.

For reference, Aza Chilachava was detained by law enforcement under administrative procedures. She is accused of artificially blocking the road. Chilachava had previously been held administratively liable, but at that time, she was given a verbal warning.
