Ombudsman’s Office: Our representatives have visited Anastasia Zinovkina 6 times – The Public Defender continues to monitor her health with the involvement of a highly qualified doctor employed in the Office

The Office of the Public Defender of Georgia has released information about the case of convicted Anastasia Zinovkina, stating that the Public Defender is continuously monitoring the convict’s health condition.

According to the Office, authorised representatives of the Public Defender have visited the prisoner 6 times from the moment of detention – December 2024 – until today. The last communication with the prisoner took place on Friday, 31 October.

“The Office of the Public Defender, in accordance with the complaints submitted by the convict, has at various times addressed the relevant state agencies: the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor’s Office, and the Penitentiary Service.

At the same time, the Office is studying the issue of the prisoner’s medical care. For this purpose, copies of medical documentation have been requested several times and have been examined by the doctor employed in the Office.

On 31 October, following the interview with the prisoner, on the same day the Office additionally requested a copy of a specific medical service document. At the present time, the Public Defender continues to monitor the prisoner’s health condition with the involvement of the highly qualified doctor employed in the Office.

It should be noted that the Public Defender acts in the best interests of detained persons, and since information concerning health belongs to the special category of personal data, the Office discloses such information only with the consent of the person deprived of liberty.

We also inform the public that the mandate of the Public Defender does not include determining the place of detention of an accused/convicted person, including transfer to a medical facility,” the statement reads.
