Gia Volski: Mrs Aza knows exactly what fate Saakashvili’s government inflicted on IDPs; she should not stand with those people - Old age is no shield, these protests are the leftovers of a failed revolution

Blocking roads is a weapon used against Georgia. “I’m not convinced every protester is in the same psychological state or truly believes Georgia has changed its foreign course, that the elections were rigged, or that we’re fighting some black hole. In reality, this is the debris of a revolution that never happened, and sadly it still torments many of our citizens for no reason at all,” Parliament Vice-Speaker Gia Volski told journalists.

On the arrest of 71-year-old IDP Aza Chilachava, Volski said:

“When you make a decision, age must be taken into account, but age is not a protective mechanism that gives anyone the right to break the law…

Mrs Aza has no grounds to block streets, especially as an IDP. She knows perfectly well what Saakashvili-era leaders did to displaced persons. She should not stand with those people and should not support their sick ideas and plans.

She knows how much attention IDPs receive today, how much money is spent, how settlements are built, how apartments are provided. She knows the attitude has completely changed. She knows no foreign course has been altered and the elections were not stolen. She has demands, and she can voice them in perfectly legal ways,” Volski declared.
