Ministry of Internal Affairs detains Manana Giorgobiani on charges of organizing and participating in group violence against supermarket employees — all six perpetrators identified

Employees of the Vake-Saburtalo Main Directorate of the Tbilisi Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained citizen Manana Giorgobiani on charges of organizing and participating in group violence.

The information is disseminated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the agency, the crime carries a sentence of up to 9 years in prison.

“On November 2 of this year, late at night, the accused Giorgobiani verbally insulted employees of a supermarket — T.M., born in 2006, and E.M., born in 2004 — after which she contacted her acquaintance, J.Ch., born in 1996, who arrived at the scene with companions. At that point, they forcibly removed the two supermarket employees to the outdoor area and subjected them to group physical assault.

Law enforcement has identified all six individuals involved in the crime. Relevant investigative actions continue in connection with the incident to establish the whereabouts of the other perpetrators and bring them to criminal responsibility.

The investigation is underway under Articles 225 and 126 of the Georgian Criminal Code, which in this case refer to group violence and the organization of group violence,” the statement reads.
