All charges against Ninia Kakabadze must be dropped — this was stated in a warning issued by the Council of Europe’s Platform for the Protection of Journalism and Safety of Journalists in response to the detention of Mediachecker journalist Ninia Kakabadze.

The Council of Europe’s platform names the state as the source of threat to media freedom in the country in connection with Kakabadze’s detention, assessing the threat as level two — which means “a serious threat to media freedom.”

The platform also calls for all charges against Ninia Kakabadze to be dropped.

“All charges against Ninia Kakabadze must be dropped. The arrests of journalists covering protest rallies must stop,” the Council of Europe’s Platform for the Protection of Journalism and Safety of Journalists tated.
