One of the participants in the group assault on two employees of the “Spar” supermarket, Jako (Jansugh) Charkviani, the son of singer Mamuka Charkviani, has surrendered to the police.
This information was confirmed to “Interpressnews” by his aunt, Tako Charkviani. According to her, her nephew turned himself in to the police a few hours ago.
Charkviani also spoke about the incident, stating that at the time when Manana Giorgobiani called her nephew, Jako Charkviani and several of his friends were sitting at a table.
According to Charkviani, Jako and his friends were under the influence of alcohol; however, they could not refuse the request for help from the mother of a deceased friend.
Additionally, Charkviani described the incident as a provocation, saying that it was not “the right call for young boys” and that Giorgobiani could have contacted her own relatives instead.
Furthermore, Charkviani noted that, according to his information, Manana Giorgobiani was not sober at the time.
For context, on the night of November 2, two employees of the “Spar” supermarket were physically attacked. Law enforcement arrested Manana Giorgobiani for organizing and participating in the group assault.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Manana Giorgobiani contacted Jako Jansugh Charkviani, who arrived at the scene with accompanying individuals. At that point, they forcibly took two supermarket employees outside and physically assaulted them as a group.
The investigation is ongoing under Articles 225 and 126 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which cover group violence and organizing group violence.
