The Georgian authorities managed to resist destructive actions aimed at destabilizing the situation during the elections, - the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu, said after the meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the CIS member states.

"Of course, we must recognize the resilience of the authorities here, they really protected the interests of Georgia and the Georgian people," - said Shoigu.

In addition, he said, "the situation in the South Caucasus has become stable and Russia's role in the still unresolved relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan is important."

"A great contribution was made by the participating countries. Of course, I mean Russia, because someone might get the impression that during all this time, the only country that resolved the eighth or ninth conflict was the United States," - noted the Secretary of the Russian Security Council.
