The leadership of the ruling, undemocratic “Georgian Dream” has lost not only the country’s friends and support, but finally even the last shred of common sense, writes European Parliament member Petras Auštrevičius on social media.
“The ruling, undemocratic leadership of ‘Georgian Dream’ has ultimately lost not only the country’s friends and backing, but the last remaining common sense,” Auštrevičius posted on X.
The MEP shared an article from Liga.net titled “Georgia accuses Ukraine of trying to block its EU accession”, which quotes a statement made by Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili to journalists:
“On Georgia’s path to EU integration and the process of obtaining candidate status, Ukraine somehow consistently displayed a negative attitude – that Georgia should not receive candidate status. We saw with our own eyes the campaigns that were run in 2022–2023, before we were granted candidate status, and Ukraine’s involvement in those efforts was evident more than once – they opposed Georgia’s European integration in various ways. This happened openly; everyone knows it,” Bochorishvili said.
