Police detain another person in Tbilisi for organizing and participating in group violence near a supermarket, in addition to Manana Giorgobiani and four others

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has reported that another individual has been detained in Tbilisi on charges of organizing and participating in group violence near a supermarket.

According to the agency, the case concerns the incident of violence that occurred late at night on November 2 against employees of a supermarket, in connection with which Manana Giorgobiani and four other individuals have already been arrested.

“Officers of the Vake-Saburtalo Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department, as a result of operational and investigative measures, detained one more person — Sh.A., born in 1997 — on charges of organizing and participating in group violence.

In connection with this criminal case, law enforcement officers have already detained: Manana Giorgobiani (born in 1970), J.Ch. (born in 1996), L.G. (born in 2000), D.P. (born in 1999), and D.K. (born in 1995).

The investigation established that the accused, along with several other individuals, committed group violence against two employees of a supermarket in Tbilisi late at night on November 2.

As a result of investigative actions, law enforcement officers identified all persons involved in the crime and detained them as accused individuals.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 225, Parts 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to group violence and organizing group violence. The crime is punishable by up to nine years of imprisonment,” the statement reads.
