I don't know what the court will decide, but choosing such a path is, on the contrary, welcome, and instead of shouting things on the street, it is always better if they disagree with something to appeal to the court, which acts absolutely independently, - this is how Georgian Dream MP Levan Machavariani responded to the United National Movement's decision to initiate constitutional proceedings against Georgian Dream.
According to him, the opposition knows that the court acts independently, it is simply that their campaign to "blacken" the court serves only to reduce the level of trust in specific institutions in society.
“Our radical opposition also trusts our court, because it knows that the verdicts issued by the court are based on objectivity. A clear example and proof of this is that whatever they appealed in Strasbourg, it was established absolutely everywhere that our justice operates at a high standard. Filing lawsuits is their right and part of the democratic process. I don’t know what the court will rule on, but choosing such a path is, on the contrary, welcome, and instead of shouting things on the street, it is always better, if they disagree with something, to turn to the court, which acts absolutely independently. They know this well, but their campaign to smear the court serves only one purpose - to lower the level of trust in specific institutions in our society, etc.,” Machavariani said.
For information, the United National Movement is launching constitutional proceedings against the Georgian Dream. According to Levan Bezhashvili, one of the leaders of the United National Movement, this process will be of decisive importance at the stage of further legal proceedings in the Strasbourg Court.
