Kakha Kaladze - A large part of today's European bureaucracy has lost its face - all their statements regarding Georgia are saturated with lies

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze says the ruling party demands only one thing from the European Union - fair treatment of the Georgian state and people. He made this statement in response to a question about the resetting of relations between Georgia and the European Union.

“A large part of today’s European bureaucracy has lost its face. All their statements regarding Georgia are saturated with lies, are based solely on lies and do not contain any reality. It is also very serious that they have tried to organize a revolution, a coup d’état, and overthrow the government in the country several times. Of course, all this is very serious and categorically unacceptable. When we were talking about the transparency law, the necessity of adopting it stemmed from exactly these facts. On the one hand, they were telling us that they were supposedly friends of Georgia, while on the other hand, they were inciting coups d’état, revolutions, extremism, and violent people. This does not fit into friendship or partnership,” said Kakha Kaladze.

When asked whether the ruling team is demanding that the European Union legitimize the results of the parliamentary elections, the Tbilisi Mayor replied that the Georgian people legitimize the elections, and that the European Union has just to respect the Georgian people and the Constitution of Georgia.

“We have repeatedly stated that we are ready for friendship, partnership, and this cannot be one-sided. We demand only one thing - a fair attitude towards Georgia and respect for the Georgian people, our Constitution, and independence. There is no question of any legitimacy of the elections. The Georgian people legitimize the elections, you understand that well. The majority of our country’s population gave legitimacy to the Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia. We demand only a fair attitude towards our country, the Georgian people, and the Georgian state from the European Union,” the mayor of the capital noted.
