"At first, opponents had been saying that we were lying and that the Arab investment would not be implemented, but now they have changed the narrative and are trying to harm the project," said the mayor of the capital, Kakha Kaladze.
According to him, the Georgian government's share in the project is 33%, and the income will go directly to the budget.
“Regarding the aforementioned project, our opponents initially had a narrative that we were lying and that the Arab company was not interested in making such an investment. After everything officially happened, the Arabs arrived in Georgia and the launch of the project was announced, they changed the narrative and are trying their best to damage this investment.
Of course, the project will be implemented. Construction work will begin in the near future. There is land, a project must be made first, and after approval, the investment will be made public. This is a normal process. This is very important for the development of the Georgian economy, because direct investment of this amount, 6.5 billion dollars, has never been received in our country. All this will not only benefit the economy, create jobs, but will also strengthen local construction companies. The share of the Georgian government in this project is 33%. The revenues received will go directly to the budget - they will be spent on healthcare programs, social issues, including increasing pensions, etc.," the Tbilisi mayor noted.
When asked by a journalist why the agreement with the Arab company was not made public, Kakha Kaladze said: "There is nothing to hide, the Minister of Economy came out and spoke absolutely openly and transparently about all the details."
