As of today, there is no work underway to attract grants from various EU agencies - it is a stated policy that we will not work on budget support grants, - Deputy Minister of Finance Giorgi Kakauridze stated at the meeting of the Finance and Budget Committee, while presenting the revised version of the 2026 budget draft.
“As for grants, an announcement about grants was made two years ago. You will not find budget support grants in the 2025 budget either. We are not working on this. As of today, work is not underway with EU agencies to attract grants, since the stated policy is that we will not work on budget support grants, although approximately 50 million GEL is envisaged in the credits, which are accompanied by grants, next year. This is tied to specific projects - I mean infrastructure, where the grant component is also included,” said Giorgi Kakauridze.
The revised version of the 2026 state budget draft has not been changed from the original version. As stated at the committee meeting, the reason for this is that changes are being prepared for the 2025 budget, and after that, the parameters of the 2025 budget will be clarified, and the changes will be reflected in the 2026 budget draft.
