Mzia Amaghlobeli is also present at the session.

The case is being considered by a panel of judges, chaired by Judge Nikoloz Margvelashvili.

The lawyers submitted a motion to expand the courtroom. The judge stated that the matter would be considered and that the next session might be held in a larger courtroom.

It should be recalled that there was a commotion at the Kutaisi Court of Appeals, where the appeal of Mzia Amaghlobeli, founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti, was set to begin.

Specifically, there was an argument between Amaghlobeli’s supporters and court ushers. According to Amaghlobeli’s colleagues and supporters, they were not allowed to enter the courtyard or attend the session.

On August 6, Mzia Amaghlobeli, founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti, was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment. Specifically, she was convicted under Article 353, Part 1 of the Criminal Code, which covers resistance, threats, or violence against a public order officer or another representative of the authorities. For this act, the penalties include a fine, house arrest of up to 2 years, and imprisonment ranging from 2 to 6 years.

It should be recalled that Amaghlobeli’s lawyers are requesting the annulment of the verdict issued by the Batumi City Court and are seeking an acquittal.
