Giorgi Sharashidze: We provided the PACE delegation with detailed information about the political situation – we told them that the boycott of parliamentary and municipal elections was a mistake that harmed the opposition – we did not hear any assessments from them

“We provided the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) delegation with detailed information about the political situation in Georgia. We also expressed our position regarding the boycott, saying that it was a mistake. We told them that boycotting the municipal elections was also a mistake that only harmed the opposition,” – said Giorgi Sharashidze, MP from For Georgia, after the meeting with the PACE delegation.

According to him, the parties also discussed the “October 4 provocation.”

“We provided the PACE delegation with detailed information about the political situation in Georgia. You ask about their assessments – to be frank, we did not hear any. They explained that the purpose of this visit was not to make evaluations but to collect and analyze information. We will likely hear their positions after they return and present their report to the Council of Europe.

We spoke about all ongoing processes. Naturally, we expressed our position regarding the boycott, saying it was a mistake. We also told them that boycotting the municipal elections was another mistake that only harmed the opposition. Of course, we discussed the October 4 provocation, which unfortunately also harmed the opposition.

We explained all the circumstances and reasons behind our decision to return to Parliament. We also told them that the visa-free regime should be preserved for the Georgian people, as it is their achievement. Despite the serious crimes committed by the Georgian Dream regime, visa-free travel must be maintained for the citizens of Georgia.

We also emphasized that we are ready to fight for the preservation of the European idea and will use every possible platform to do so,” – said Sharashidze.
