Minister of Internal Affairs Geka Geladze, together with First Deputy Minister Roni Meskhi, has arrived at the site of the Turkish military helicopter crash in Sighnaghi Municipality.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, search-and-rescue and investigative operations are actively underway at the scene.
Geka Geladze, along with her deputy and heads of various police units, inspected the crash site and was briefed by the heads of the relevant ministry departments about the ongoing operations.
The Turkish military aircraft crashed in the Sighnaghi Municipality, approximately five kilometers from Georgia’s state border. Preliminary reports indicate that the plane was flying from Azerbaijan to Türkiye.
An investigation is being conducted under Article 275, Part 4 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which concerns the violation of air transport operation or safety rules resulting in loss of life.
