Prosecutor's Office files charges against Deputy Mayor of Kvareli, Chairman of Kvareli City Council and his brother in connection with physical confrontation

The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has charged three individuals in connection with a physical confrontation between employees of the Kvareli Municipality City Hall and the City Council.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, an investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that on October 8, in the city of Kvareli, Levan Geladze, Deputy Mayor of Kvareli Municipality, physically assaulted Nika Zautashvili, the brother of the Chairman of the Kvareli Municipality City Council. Shortly after this, Givi and Nika Zautashvili, together as a group, physically assaulted Levan Geladze.

"The Chairman of the Kvareli Municipality Council and his brother were charged under Article 126, Part 1, Subparagraph "b" (violence, committed in a group) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for up to two years of imprisonment as a form of punishment, while the Deputy Mayor of Kvareli Municipality was charged under Article 126, Part 1 (violence, two episodes) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for up to one year of imprisonment as a form of punishment.

The Prosecutor's Office will apply to the court with a motion to impose a preventive measure against the defendants within the time limit established by law," the information states.
