Pawel Herczynski: When it comes to the enlargement path, Ukraine and Moldova are much further ahead than Georgia - Georgia is further away from the European Union than it was in 2023

When it comes to the enlargement path, Ukraine and Moldova are much further ahead than Georgia, said Pawel Herczynski, the EU Ambassador to Georgia.

“When it comes to the enlargement path, Ukraine and Moldova are much further ahead than Georgia. In the case of Ukraine, this is despite the brutal aggressive war. The Ukrainian people are confronting Russian aggression and are also carrying out very difficult and challenging reforms,” Herczynski said.

According to him, “Moldova is under pressure due to Russia’s hybrid war.”

"Nevertheless, Moldovans recently supported a pro-European course in the parliamentary elections. Both Ukraine and Moldova are on the path to becoming members of the European Union soon. Unfortunately, in the case of Georgia, we see the opposite. Two years after being granted candidate status, Georgia is further away from the European Union than it was in 2023," the ambassador noted.
