Ana Tsitlidze: It doesn’t work that you constantly insult the European Union and then expect EU institutions to talk to you or invite you to the Enlargement Commission

“It doesn’t work that you constantly insult the European Union and then expect EU institutions to talk to you or invite you to the Enlargement Commission. The policy pursued by Georgian Dream is directly connected to Georgia losing its European integration,” — said one of the leaders of the United National Movement, Ana Tsitlidze, during a briefing held at the party office.

According to her, “the longer the Russian occupation regime stays in power and calls itself the government, the deeper Georgia’s isolation will become.”

“Georgia will not be able to participate in any international processes as long as the country is governed by the Russian occupation regime, which is killing democracy, violating human rights, and driving the country toward isolation. It doesn’t work that you constantly insult the European Union and your international partners, and then expect EU institutions to talk to you or invite you to the Enlargement Commission. The policy carried out by the Russian occupation regime, which calls itself Georgian Dream, is directly linked to Georgia losing its European integration.

We must understand that Georgia’s European integration is directly tied to and associated with the country’s national security, because a Georgia left alone without European and American partners means standing face-to-face with Russia and Russian occupation. Therefore, the longer the Russian occupation regime remains in power and calls itself the government, the more Georgia’s isolation will deepen and the more our European integration will shut down,” said Ana Tsitlidze.
