Denmark’s Minister for European Affairs: Georgia is drifting further and further away from the European Union day by day

“Enlargement is a strategic priority for Denmark’s presidency, and we have clearly stated this from the very beginning. Now there is a new momentum for enlargement because all of this concerns Europe’s security and stability,” said Denmark’s Minister for European Affairs, Marie Bjerre, speaking to journalists before the EU Council of General Affairs meeting.

“We need to move forward with enlargement and give candidate countries — primarily Ukraine, Moldova, and the Balkan countries — a European perspective. Today, we are opening the final cluster with Albania. All clusters are now open, and we are very pleased about this. We are striving to move forward with Moldova and Ukraine and are actually making progress at the technical level. Unfortunately, Georgia has now chosen not to follow the European path and is drifting further and further away from the European Union,” the Danish Minister for European Affairs emphasized.
