Civil activist Isako Devizde has begun a hunger strike outside Parliament

The number of hunger strikers outside the legislative body has increased — civil activist Isako Devizde has started a hunger strike.

In total, at this moment, 9 people are using this extreme form of protest.

“It has already been more than 22 days that participants of the continuous protest on Rustaveli Avenue have been on hunger strike. I have decided to join their protest in solidarity and begin a hunger strike!

Freedom to the hostages of the regime,” Isako Devizde writes on Facebook.

For reference, Gedevan Popkhadze began the extreme form of protest on October 28 and started a hunger strike. Along with the opposition leader, Darejan Tskhvitaria and several other activists also declared a hunger strike. Their demand is that “political prisoners be released and new parliamentary elections be scheduled.”

As for Isako Devizde, he was detained during the protest rally outside Parliament and was found guilty of an administrative offense by the court on September 25.

By the decision of Tbilisi City Court Judge Zviad Tsekvaia, Devizde was sentenced to 20 days of administrative imprisonment.

The civil activist was detained on September 24 under Articles 166 and 173 of the Administrative Offenses Code, which refer to petty hooliganism and disobedience to a lawful request of a police officer.
